question about 3pt sprayers

I bought 1 of these from TSC 12v electric powered.
Fimco 4 gal. 4-Nozzle 3 Point Hitch Sprayer, 532941 at Tractor Supply Co.
Only use in early spring to kill dandylions and broad leaf weeds in lawn.
Winterize by getting RV antifreeze into pump (-50 degree) around $4/gal.

I have this same sprayer. The 12 volt pump that comes with it has been nothing but trouble. I finally replaced it this year with the TSC version of the same pump. Hopefully that will hold up better. If not TSC offers a replacement warranty on theirs so I will take advantage of that.

I do put RV antifreeze in it for the winter. I think the chemicals just gum it up. And I do clean it after every use.

I believe the Fimco is suppose to be a better quality brand right? I was looking at some from northern tool which some brought up pump problems as well. Others speak highly but for the most part the reviews are solid. I may try to build one b/c its only going to be used for driveaway.

Fimco will be fine for what you are doing.
I have the Deere 45 gal in the back of the gator for fertilizer spraying.

You can buy poly barrels cheap on CL. Pick the size you need. They come 15 gallons and up to 55 gallons. Then buy a 12VDC pump. I found one for $19 on ebay. Next, you'll nee some tubing, fittings and hose clamps. Next, you'll need a wand with valve and nozzle. All this can be had for less than $100.00. Mine was about $65.00.

I use mine for weed control, insecticide as well as spraying my fruit trees. Also, it can be used to spray car wash soap to clean the tractor.

Thsi should get you started. Look on Craigs List for a poly barrel of the size you need....a 15 gallon size is about $10-15.

Great idea.

I bought a pull behind from Northern Tool before I owned a tractor so I could pull it with the little lawn tractor. In hind sight, building one with a few bits and pieces would haver been a lot cheaper and just as effective. No way I would invest $400 in one.

My buddy gave me a 30 gal plastic barrel from a car wash. I doubt it would deteriorate very quickly, but if it did, it would be easy and cheap to replace.

One last thought. If you have a set of pallet forks you do not even need to connect the darn thing to the 3 PH. Cut down a pallet, strap the tank to the pallet and go for it. And no turning around to see how the thing is spraying.
