question about a plow

I am looking at buying a used Dearborn 2 bottom plow, and I would appreciate any comments/opinions on this brand. I have heard that the older Ford and Ferguson brands are "better" than the new ones like TSC sells, but I don't know anything about the Dearborn brand or plows in general. It seems to be in good condition, with both moldboards and points in good shape, and with little rust. Is there anything else that I should be looking at?

They were good plows. Lots of adjustments to make, which will be important.

It should have a 3 piece set up, with point, moldboard and shin. If it is only 2 piece set up? You will not be able to get parts for it--Ken Sweet

We have a 2 bottom Dearborn plow ourselves. It's a fairly easy plow to use once you have it set up correctly and understand the basics. We have always used ours without the colter's and it works well for us.

I have a older dearborn 2-bottom plow and it has worked wonderful for me. It has held up through some rough plowing by me and I bet it has seen much worse in years past! They are good solid plows. I paid $200 for mine three years ago and I do not regret it one bit. I hope this helps.

What you have heard about the old and new is correct. Check to see if it is like Ken said and you should be alright.

Thanks guys for the info. PineRidge, that link was great, and I bookmarked it for future use. I will buy the plow ($200), and give it a go, knowing that if something doesn't work, I can find the answers from TBN. TBN is a great place!
