"Well I guess I owe him a coke because I can't think of one decent reason to remove it."
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif First off, removing the loader is so simple and easy and quick I can put them on and off in a total of less than 5 minutes. Secondly, there was a thread on this and there are many reasons to remove a loader. Some are, the extra weight of the loader compacts the soil in your lawn, the loader greatly reduces the manuverability of the tractor. It is diffucult to mow grass with the loader installed and it's extra weight up fron causes the wheels to dig in on turns. The ride with the loader attached is much rougher and bouncier. Wear and tear on the loader is reduced because it is not along for a ride bouncing away and tire wear is reduced as well. Damage to your house, car, people, pets, trees , fences from whacking them with the loader is reduced as is damage to the loader and tractor from such impacts. I could go own for several more paragraphs--why ride around with the loader if your not going to use it and it is so easy to R&R-- why suffer? I sometimes remove and install my loader or even my mower deck several times in a day.
Example, I was going to aerate and spread fertilizer with my Herd spreader and some seeds as well. First I removed the loader and mowed the grass. I then reinstalled the loader to remove the MMM and to move my gravel I bought for the driveway and had the boxblade attached as well to spread it. I then removed the loader and the boxblade and installed the aerator and aerated the lawn areas. I then removed the aerator and installed the harrow and drug it about and then removed the harrow and installed the Herd spreader and spread seed and fertilizer. I then reinstalled the loader, lifted the tractor to reinstall the MMM and then put the unit away. That was just one day. J
