Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

Ok, one follow up: Are the bent washer thingies you are talking about referring to the washers here : (part #5)

or the one show on the BH here ?

If it is the pins on the BH, then it makes perfect sense to me. If not, then I am afraid that I am still a little lost.

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

The washers go on the ends of the pins on whatever implement you want to hook up. The lynch pin goes through a hole in the bent washer and therefore are protected by the washer while they are on the ez hitch. It's like the pic in the second link, on the brush mower. John

That makes perfect sense to me now. Thanks!

Whew! I was starting to feel a bit on the slow side. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

I have six different implements and as cheap as this item should be it wouldn't make sense to not have a set on each implement. You're trying to make changes more convenient and hassle free.

Which brings me to my next question? How many of you are using the stabilizer bar? And if not, what have you done to hold the lift arms at the proper width while backing up? Someone mentioned that it gets in the way of pto implements, but I don't think that should be a problem until you need to lift it up for attachment, by this point you can remove the stabilizer bar and stow away.

Thanks for being patient with skitch and me.

Jeff

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

I don't use the stabilizer bar, but I do have one (still in the box). I have found that my lower arms are typically stiff enough that if I set them in place I can just back up and they pretty much stay there. My big problem was my Befco RFM, it used an extra wide A frame so the lower arms had to be extended way out, all my other implements are standardized. I traded in the RFM for a MMM and now I might actually pull the stabilizer bar out and lock it into place and just leave it?

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

Jeff, I have the stabilzer bar, used it once and after I got through working I noticed I had somehow bent it, so I took it off and never bothered with it again. Generally, I only have to use the stabilizer chais to set the arms where I want them and back into the implement with no real problems. I have a landscape rake that's narrower, a boom pole that's a little wider and the rotary mower and boxblade are about the same so I have to change the chains just a little almost every time. Not a big deal. I do this: Back up with the arms down about the right height to go under the lift pins of the implement, get off the tractor and set the chains to the right width and then back up again, left the arms up into the pins and then connect the top link. All much easier than before the Pat's. John

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

Thanks for your ideas. I think I will try a big rubber band in place of the stabilizer bar. It will hold the lift arms in away from the rear tires as I back up but will allow a spread to the link pins as they come into contact with each other. Or, how about a hydraulic cylinder mounted between the lift arms and you can use a lever to adjust from the seat. Maybe I should keep quiet about that in case Midwest Engineering is monitoring this forum. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Question about Pat\'s Easy Change system

I do use it on my box blade, exclusively. It seems to have the pins in so far that the arms never want to line up.
