Question about selling a tractor

/ Question about selling a tractor #21
The problem with the pens is they go bad without warning. It happened to me personally at a convenience store when I gave her a $100. It showed conterfeit. I said huh? I just got that from a bank (which really means nothing) so she did another 100 I had and it also showed counterfiet. I said check some $20's in your drawer. She then realized the pen was garbage. I would do a wire transfer myself but there are fees involved depending on if it's a bank or credit union. Also, look up civil asset forfieture laws in your state or the states you are traveling through. Youtuber Steve Lehto has good videos on this.

I took $15k cash for my old tractor at my house. Money was used, not new and or fake. Wrote a check for $32k for my new used tractor to a guy who lived not far from me. He hauled the Kubota over to my house and I wrote him a check. Just like good neighbors (y)

I have taken a cashiers check before but usually I require cash for selling equipment. Usually when I’m buying equipment they also want cash. I’ve never had a problem with counterfeit money. I’ve never been scammed with a hot check either but obviously both possibilities exist.

/ Question about selling a tractor #24
I've sold numerous cars and tractors all through eBay, over the last 15-20 years. I never really looked at the buyer's side of things, but I suspect they have financing channels available for buyers who aren't able to pay cash for large items. In any case, it has always been a smooth transaction, and the buyer of the last tractor was actually a small dealership who was planning to resell it as a package to one of their customers. He paid cash, but some of the others used PayPal.

I sold an old Hot Rod a few years ago for $7k. Guy brought Seventy $100 bills. I brought a counterfeit detector pen and tested every bill. I explained to the guy that I had gotten counterfeit bills in my garage sale before moving and wanted to be sure that didn’t happen again. He had absolutely no problem with me checking.

One other thing. These are weird times, and if I was getting cash that totaled over $10k, I’d advise the bank I was coming, have a bill of sale, contact local law enforcement that you were going to receive the specified amount and advise them that you would be taking it to the bank. Last thing you want is having a Local Yokel pulling you over and confiscating the cash since it’s over $10k.
Real counterfeiters, go to the bank and get a $100 bundle of new uncirculated, dollars bills. Then they put the new bills in the dryer, with your funny money, aa few golf balls, and some poker chips, and run it on air dry for about an hour. This distributes the real ink from the new bills to your funny money, and roughs up your funny money enough that it doesn’t look fresh off the press.

This makes the tester pens, useless. Because the ink transferred from the ones reacts, the same as the ink on a real bill would.

PayPal fees are too steep for large amounts imo.

Years ago they were, but PayPal no longer charges any fees for personal transactions with linked bank accounts:

If you have a consumer/personal PayPal account

  • Fees to send money: There is no fee if you send money using your PayPal balance or linked bank account. If you send funds using a linked debit or credit card, you will be charged a 2.9% fee. There is also a 5% fee if you send money internationally, up to a maximum of $4.99.
  • Fees for withdrawing money: There’s no fee if you withdraw funds to your bank account, but it will take two to three business days. For an instant transfer to your bank account or linked debit card, you will be charged 1.5% of the total amount, up to $15. If you want a paper check mailed, there’s also a $1.50 fee.
  • Shopping fees: PayPal doesn’t charge a fee if you use your PayPal account to shop online or in stores.

The electronic machines that banks use are hard to fool. But i was never a forger like you were 😎😎😎😎. But that sounds like a good way to launder money.

I got a fake $20 from an Arby's in 1995. That's all. By quick count I have easily handled $300k +. Cars, ATVs, motorcycles, records, Dads collection of Petroliana. Cashiers checks are ok too IMO as long as it looks legit. Now gold, my buddy got burned real good on gold. An $18k motorcycle gone in exchange for some plated lead. Good times!

Just remembered a “selling” story from last summer- had listed some plow controllers for sale on Craigslist; few hundred bucks. Buyer contacted me; agreed on everything. Told him he could mail me a personal check, and I would ship them out. He was within 100 miles if I recall.

The next day he cancelled. Said a friend told him I was trying to scam him. I said “wait a minute - I’m willing to send you the items, and accept a personal check, and that’s a scam by me?” He didn’t really have an answer.

I'm thinking there is a limit of 10k per day on such transactions though. May be wrong though.

Edit: 10k per transaction, but can do multiple transactions though. No fraud protection on vehicle purchases.

These days I prefer to do all my financial operations through Cash App. Many similar apps tend to freeze money and conduct inneccessary audits that prolong deals. I had some minor problems with Cash App in the past, but resolved it pretty easily through customer service here Cash App Customer Service Phone Number (855) 351-2274, Email, Help Center. Overall, I think in this digital age we need to get used to handlind our finances online.
Are you a bot? Your four posts over the last ten minutes are interesting:

Personally, I don't mind commercials, but to be honest I listen to the radio rarely and more of a background noise while working. But if this is such a concern for you, probably try to leave a review and contacn Sirius XM customer support here Sirius XM Radio Customer Service Phone Number (866) 635-2349, Email, Help Center. If there are enough users complaining, they may reconsider their approach in fear of losing paying customers. Think about this option.

I am very sorry about your tech issues, I personally never experienced such problems with Verizon wireless. If this is an ongoing issue, try to contact their customer support online here Verizon Wireless Customer Service Phone Number (800) 922-0204, Email, Help Center. Who knows, maybe they will be able to resolve it and you will enjoy a perfect service every day of a week. I heard some good stuff about their tech support from friends.

I am a client of Bank of America because of generational traditions too. They have their drawbacks and sometimes newer, more technological banks can be better in some aspects. But customer service and support are always top-notch. I contact support here Bank Of America Customer Service Phone Number (800) 933-6262, Email, Help Center when any issues arise and they always solved as soon as possible. This is the main reason why I am still with this bank after all these years.

Any large purchase I would want to meet at my bank for the transaction. They have better counterfeit detection than a pen. You have witnesses. They have money count machines.

Surely true, but even they fail. The good news is that, like you say, at least the transaction is taking place in front of a teller.

I used to deal in a lot of cash, and received counterfeit bills on several occasions. Every one of those occasions was a bill received directly from the bank, either personally by me, or a close family member.

In most occasions, it was upon depositing the cash into a different bank, that the counterfeit bill was detected. I guess different banks have different detection systems, each with different flaws and false-positives or false-negatives in their ability to detect bad or good bills.

Almost every counterfeit was a $100 bill, which was always surprising, as I'd always heard that $20's were the "most-counterfeited" bill.

Heck cause I can't say what I want to 4 out of 5 of my last tractor purchases have been with personal checks.
You people that scream and carry on about bad checks I don't have that much of an issue with them. Depending on were the check has been written and the individual depends on when the tractor or equipment gets picked up or delivered.

One party was a bit hesitant to take a check upon delivery, so we ran into town to the Bank and he got his check right there no if's an's or but's. Others have had no issues taking a check as they know were the equipment is. Also when I do a "Bill of Sale"
my drivers license and the other parties is laid out right on top of the bill of sale and a picture is taken or it's been scanned and printed out.

I have done some large purchases and sales with cash when done with longer distance parties.
