Question about Super Steer

/ Question about Super Steer #11
This is just an opinion, but when I had a tractor with SS I liked it a lot, the tractor was used probably 70 percent for finish mowing.. very handy. It took a little getting used to to hook up the loader, but just a couple of times and I was good to go. However, on very hilly ground like I have now here in Branson I am not sure I would want it. You can turn almost too sharp with SS and I wonder if it would be unsafe here. My Kubota turns sharp enough for me here.. Like Jinman said the Sensitrack was a nice feature, and you get it with a SS equipped tractor. I say if you have reasonable ground, and need to turn sharp. go for it.

If you are doing a lot of mower work with a mid mower it is great. However with a loader on you are asking for trouble if your not careful. When turning your wheel base is cut by a lot. I have it on my TC29D.

I have a TC45D with SS. It is very useful. If I were buying new, and was going to keep the tractor forever, I would get it. If I were buying used(again), I would put it on my list of like-to-haves. If I were buying new to keep for a little while, I probably wouldn't get it.

There isn't a price difference(that I can see) on used SS vs non-SS tractors, and it is kinda like a swimming pool for a house(nobody is going to pay you extra if you have one).

I mainly use my tractor for moving things around, and the SS gives 2 advantages:

It turns really tight without using the brakes.
The front can move side-to-side(several inches) without moving back and forth.

The last thing can be troublesome for new operators, but is useful for those that are used to it.

good luck.

I agree with all remarks here. Very handy. Have never had to put my tractor in FWD even on ice or snow. Also agree with cutting the tractor TOO sharp on hilly terrain......you'll get the hairs on your neck up pretty quick.

There are 2 downsides...
1... Turning tight will rip your ground up...aka your lawn. On loose ground if you dont have 4wd on you may push the front tires and not turn as tight. Also on pavement your can wear your front tires fast.
2... If you are hooking up front attachments or doing fine loader work the bucket can move side to side up to 8" as you move the front tires side to side. But if you get used to it... it becomes really handy.

... These downsides however can be controlled by a good operator and can also be a benefit in many situations. I would buy another supersteer tractor... in fact, I cant think of not having it.
Completely agree, only tearing up the grass leave less to mow... LOL

It does take a little getting used to.

I live in central Illiinois the only hills we have are overpasses.

I have SS on my TC40DA, bought it on purpose to work with my loader 17LA
and the pallet forks. I store and move alot around with pallets at my place
not to mention my equipment; H frame press, feed grinder, welders,
compressors, etc. You can use the SS just like side shift on a fork truck.

Would never be with out it again.

Boy, I bet that would work good!. I hadn't thought about that, the only thing I noticed was when hooking up your loader, it took some practice to be able to turn in the right direction to match up the loader. but once you got used to it, it wasn't a problem. I never had any forks on the TC33DA I used to have. It was a great tractor, but long gone, I am an orange guy now.
