Question, buying Used or New?????

I bought new for two reasons.

1. I could afford it.

2. I knew only enough to figure out what I thought I wanted -- fortunately I was right there. But my rear end had never sat in a tractor and I wouldn't have known if a used one was running properly or if it was getting ready to do something really bad.

A new one had a much better chance of being right in all respects.

Now that I have a few years of both operation and reading TBN under my belt, I would feel more confident with a used machine.

I looked for several years at new & used. Then bought a machine (not exactly what I was looking for, but close) used w/ 430 hrs. - 3 years old for right at half the price on the build-it new page and paid no taxes. My intention was to buy at a price that could be recouped if the machine was'nt up to the task/not happy with/etc. This probably is a different situation than many folks. If I was making a living with it every day, I'd most likely go new.
