Well I ended up with the 5ft disc, for the price I couldn't pass it up. It's an older IH disc with cranks to adjust the cutting angles. The thing is extremely heavy, but it was set up to be able to adjust the length, two bolts and you could slide the frame longer...or completely remove the back half! The tractor pulls the front half slick as butter, and a few passes has the fresh plowed ground looking real nice! I was rummaging in the old barn and found an old metal mattress frame that I'm going to use to drag to smooth things out a bit more before I plant, from the looks of the frame that's what it was used for in the past also.

So if anyone near east Texas is in need of a single set of discs, I've got the back half of these, wouldn't take much to weld a couple of ears for lift arm pins and a mount for a top link and they'd be ready to pull. They have the same set up, large crank to adjust the disc angle and eveything turns freely. Let me know I'll make ya a great deal.

Glad you got them working. You might want to check Agrisupply.com to see if they have a disc axle that you could shorten up and remove one of the discs blade from each side of your gang. You might then be able to put the back on again. I replaced my bearing halves very cheaply as the previous owner got a little lazy on the grease. If I remember correctly, my disc is 20x20 (5 discs, 20 inch dia). SoundGuy actually posted you could shorten the gangs up, so I looked into making it look better than just taking off one disc. I found Agrisupply sold everything to "shrink" the disc down to 16X20 for 12.00 per gang. So before you sell the back set, you might want to use them to see if you can shrink them.

If you go to Current Buyer's Guide from Agri Supply there is a picture of how they go together.
