For those who own a ratchet rake, I am thinking it would work well for cleaning the edges of a pond, right? Can you pull backward with it? Seems to me it would be the perfect attachment for that, but maybe designed only to push. Opinions?

Yes it will clean pulling backward but you would really need to be very careful around a pond. It would be easy for the weight of your FEL to pull the tractor into the pond if the slope is steep. Been there done that.

Put it on a long pole, like this. Mount it on the 3pt hitch or loader bucket.

Agree. Ratchet Rake is great, but will not affect law of gravity, or Murphy's Law.
