Sorry it took me so long to go look but the tractor on my lot has the same hole. I don't know the purpose of it but it is there.
From looking at these photos and the one you sent before, my best guess is a tooling hole. It would be only used in making the parts and would be blocked off by a gasket or some other means now. Looks like a rusty color around the hole. That reminds me of a weep hole found on water pumps. I would not worry about it. That is, as long as you don't find something leaking from it.SABULA FARMER said:More pics.
In this photo it looks like it could be a pilot (tooling) hole for the bolt behind it, before the hole was enlarged to depth and tapped. It is just too hard to tell from the photo.SABULA FARMER said:Here is a picture of what I have going...if this works?

The only fluid that is red would be fuel and thats only if you are buying non taxable fuel.
Maine_Polack said:Not true....on my 6500 anyway. The power steering fluid is red, (ATF). I know, because I have a leak that has been there since shortly after purchasing. I did not worry about it, as it was very minor. I am now sorry that I let it go, because it has gotten worst and the fittings now have to be replaced.
