Since my tractor has a BH, when I take the BH off, I have the 2 hydraulic lines on the rear of the tractor. Couldn't I somehow use those lines to hook up a hydraulic top link when I don't have the BH attached? Is this a stupid question? :confused2: This way I would avoid the added expense of adding a rear remote. I would use this for a box blade, rake, something that doesn't need to use the hydraulic lines.

Let me ask you this, when you remove the BH, do you then put a loop of hydraulic hose between the two hydraulic couplers? Or do you have a valve elsewhere?

You will still need an open center control valve mounted somewhere to restore the series flow of fluid, and control the cylinder out of its work ports.

I do loop the one into the other. I don't have to, I do it to keep the ends from getting dirt in them. I'm thinking that I may need a control valve.

you don't have a valve to control tnt just pressure to BH and return. could fab a control valve with a pressure relief in it. just a thought.

Izicc....Are you saying you have 2 hydraulic hoses hanging off the back of your tractor that you plug the 2 hoses from your BH into? Or do you have a block at the back of your tractor that the 2 hoses from your BH plug into. The reason I ask is I wonder which 2 hoses you join together so to keep "from getting dirt in them". If there are 2 hoses at the backof the tractor that you "don't have to" join together then there must be a means (lever maybe) that shuts off the flow when your BH is not installed.

You mention you do not have to provide the loop. This puzzles me. Unless there is another valve somewhere you turn, you would have to provide the loop to keep from deadheading the pump and to make the 3pt cylinder function. But I am not there to examine how your BH is hooked up, but I would think it is fed from the green marked hose off of the FEL valve, (the power beyond connection) and the other hose returns to the distribution block under your right foot, again to the green marked connection which is the feed to the position control valve for the 3pt. Unless another valve has been installed to "switch" the flow on and off to the backhoe somewhere, you must install the hose loop to keep from deadheading the pump and to provide flow to the 3pt control valve, and eventually on to the tank. Keep in mind I have zero hydraulic credentials, but this is what I think.

Maybe I do have to connect them. I don't remember having been told I had to. On my BX I had to, I know that. I have a L3800 with the BH77 on it. Maybe I am thinking that I don't have to connect the hoses on the BH when it is off, but I do connect them to keep the fittings clean. Let's say I do have to connect them, which you may be correct, can I still use that connection for a hydraulic top link?

I'm starting to feel like a dumb blonde anymore. My memory is not as good as it used to be. I guess it comes with age. :)

Well you would need a DA single control valve mounted somewhere (rops maybe?)and the proper hose connections. Can you confirm there is no other lever anywhere you have to throw to use the backhoe hydraulics, just hook up the two connections and go? And when you are done with the backhoe and remove it, you put a short length of hose between the two connections on your tractor, and your 3pt will go up and down and everything works normally correct?

What is the source of the flow in those lines?

If it is from the FEL valve, it needs to be connected in series.

If the hoses are from the work ports of a valve, then they can hang until you use them.

One set of hose can do one cyl. IE, T-N-T.
