As JB said.. unless the 8n has had a pto shaft change.. it may still have the oem 1 1/8 6 spline shaft and not the 1 3/8 modern 6 spline shaft.
An overrunning coupler will fix the splines dimeter issue and make a mower safe-er to run on the tractor.
