questions about moving Implement pins

Hello folks, I got a great deal on a 4 ft Bush hog (International IM400)brand,
the owner said only used approx 10 hours, and had been using it with a YM-1900,
I have it connected to my 1700 which is pretty much same size tractor, I can't seem to get it to level out with any adjustments I've made, it drops to low in the front, and if I bring the rear down it will be level how ever will scalp against the ground, it looks like what I need to do is lower the connecting pins, which I try to do by installing them into the bolt holes that bolt the A-frame to the cutter itself, although these holes are too small for the pins, My questions is? if I go ahead and drill these holes out large enough for the pins and move them to this location will these pins be strong enough to hold the frame to the cutter as well as used as lifting point? will it have any ill effect on the cutter? I mean they built it this way for a reason with separate set of pin holes and frame connecting holes right!.... I think where the problem lay is there is some kind of swivel at the top where the adjusting link connects, and as the cutter is lowered this this swivel lets the cutter drop down too close to the ground on the front,

I'm not sure I completely understand, so forgive me if I'm making the wrong assumptions. As far as leveling the cutter, I would think a longer top link would solve the problem. As far as the cutter sitting too low, that's the part I really can't understand. Are you wanting the cutter the sit at a certain height with the 3ph completely lowered? When you drop the 3ph all the way, the cutter should be sitting on the ground, at least every one I've ever seen has. You will raise the 3ph to the desired cutting height.

Do you have some pictures? Most suitable will be pictures from the side.
Maybe with some dimensions (Weight, e.g.) of the bush hog it is possible to calculate if it is possible to move the pins to the other holes.

My lift arms are adjustable. There are three holes on one side and the right side is adjustable. Use the top of the 3 holes on the left side and adjust your right side arm to level the bush hog out. then lengthen the top link, if needed go to TSC or order from agrisupply a longer top link. This will make the front of the hog hover over the ground so all you have to do is put the 3pt all the way down and unless there is a huge hole or a high spot it wont hit. The other thing is to use the draft lock thing on the 3pt movement to lock it at the right hight. I cant just set mine, as i guess its not tight enough and the tractor vibrations will slowly make it drop down (not the lift leaking the 3pt control is actually vibrating to the down position.)

the adjustment on the side lift arm link sounds like it might work, although will this not have effect on all my other implements? will I have to custome adjust every time I go back to use another implement? here is a few pictures to show what I'm talking about,

I don't understand the problem. why not just position the front wherever you want it with the 3ph lever. It should stay where you put it, if not you need to fix it.

I can adjust the cutter to be level with the Hydraulic lift although it will gradually fall or vibrate down as mentioned resulting in scalping, when I had my other tractor & bush hog I could simply let the lift go all the way down and it had a positive stopping position that wouldn't let it go all the way to the ground, somehow I think it has to do with this pivoting device where the top link hooks to, I have the top link adjust about all the way out which only is taken back up by the top part of the A mount, and it's not as though I can remove this because there is no spacing for the link to fit into,

As mentioned, if it drops, fix it. There should also be a positive stop thumb screw for backup.

Looking at those pictures, there's nothing wrong.

@MMagis: I agree with you.

The thing he have to do is to adjust the hydraulic-lift-switch with a screw(normaly there is a screw from the factory mounted).

In the rear you adjust the hight with the wheel and in the front you adjust it with the hight oft the liftarms. The top oft the 3pt must be free.

Here you can see the screw to adjust the hydraulic. :thumbsup:
