Yeah it took nearly 6 gallons. The power lift works a lot better, at wide open rpm's it still is noisy and jerky with a 5 foot finish mower. Up to 2000 rpm it is smooth and quick. Any ideas /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cleaned the screen good and new filter!!!

Are rebuild kits available for these pumps?

Thanks

Is the servicing stop valve, down by your feet, turned fully open?

Norm, I'm not sure what valve you're talking about. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think he is talking about the round knob right under the seat, by your feet. It is a stop and used also to slow down and speed up the hydraulics.

It's open, but it only jerks raising and only at high rpms. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That valve is intended only to lock the 3ph, and should be either fully open or fully closed. The little red handled, (on mine), lever under the seat controls the drop rate. According to my YM240 manual, operating the 3ph with the valve closed, or partly closed can damage the pump. I honestly don't believe I have ever raised my 3ph at above 2000rpm. Why would you need to?

I had always thought that valve just controlled the fall rate. I'll have to check that out.

When you're mowing do you lower your rpm's to raise the mower turn around? I've driven tractors all my life, up to 120 hp, and farmed as much as 400 acres and I've never seen a tractor that you couldn't raise the 3 ph at full throttled.

This finish mower is a Bush Hog brand and it's heavier than a lot of the others, but my YM-1700 has always handled it well. I've always run it with the valve almost closed in order to slow the drop rate and keep it from slamming the ground.

I plan to move my FEL over on this tractor and need the lift to work good.

The Power Shift works great, but I understand that's a different pump.
