Depending on your grapple applications, this may be an alternative to plumbing in the added hydraulics. These fingers use your bucket cylinders, something you already have, to open and close the teeth.

The Westendorf is not the same as a true grapple but it certainly looks like it works for some, but not all, grappling tasks. There is no free lunch and in this instance the trade off is the simplicity of no hydraulics but a loss of any dump or curl functions. That means you have a grapple pointing only forward and means you cannot use the grapple to "curl" out roots or to "dump" or pick up debris from the vertical position. The biggest issue for me however is that they are not really any less expensive than a basic true grapple from WRLong or Millonzi or one of the other simple grapple types.

If you have rear remotes it is really pretty cheap money to get the proper hoses and fittings to allow you to run a true grapple. Which is a much more versatile tool. A true grapple will do everything the Westendorf does and gives you the operational jaw without removing dump/curl functions. Still, if all you want to do is move logs around the Westendorf would certainly do the job.
