I have searched the forums but cannot find the thread about shimming skid steer attachments. I have a Markham grubber that fits a bit too loose while everything else fits fine. I would rather shim it than ship it back. I see several ways to shim it but would like to review what others have done, so if someone can tell me which thread that was I would appreciate it.

I bumped this thread. There is a picture of a Phirana device made exactly like the Markham and you can see how the rebated edge sits too low at the top wedge area. I will put up some pics when I get time to make the repair. I have talked to Markham and Allen is going to look at a Kubota mount to see if he can solve the issue with future manufacturing. Thanks again for the the link, it confirms my diagnosis on the this issue. I also would like to say that all my attachments with a soilid plate fit fine. The only issue is with a partial plate attachment.

Hi Kevin,

I have the Kubota QA mount and Markham Grubber bucket, also. The bucket fits just fine and I have not had any problems with the fit. My Kubota is new (2006), and I had read somewhere in these forums that Kubota had some pin issues in the earlier QA mounts. Maybe it is in the QA?

My tractor is new also. Do you have good solid spring pressure on your lock pins? My bucket fits and works OK but it is not right. The QA fits the bucket and forks fine. If you look at the link I posted the one pic of the grapple shows the QA arm and the rebated top which is what I have.

Kevin,

I do have spring pressure on the pins. I can see the springs compress about 1/2" when I lock the handles down. Any slop in the bucket attachment is all taken up by the wedge shaped pin as it is locked. I would first check to make sure you have enough spring pressure to jam the wedge shaped pins into lower end of the bucket when you turn the QA lever to lock it down. It may not be enough.

I also looked at your picture and mine is like yours...with the rebated type top. It's odd that the same QA does not perform equally. Also, the thread you attached about the "Kubota Skid Steer QA Question", was the one I had remembered.

Also, on my Grubber Bucket, I took an angle grinder and sharpened up the edge on the top of the bucket, (the first foot or so). It made a difference in cutting roots, etc.
