Quick Attach option

I can't think of what I'd ever use it for
Yeah that's what I thought too .... oops. Get it - don't regret not getting it like I do now.

The world of attachments will be a lot more useful with the quick attach on your FEL.

I use a general purpose bucket with teeth, a high capacity bucket, a sifting bucket, a hydraulic auger, forks, a blade, and a scarifier with my quick attach. I change attachments so often that I am looking at getting a hydraulic attachment plate so I can change the attachments with just a push of a button.

You know, I've thought this must exist in the tractor world....
Please share details (cost, wiring, what you have to replace, etc.)

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Bobcat has had this on there skid steers for many years. I believe they call it the Bob-Tach. I was recently at the big Cat dealer in Portland Oregon and saw that Cat has this same thing available for their skid steers also. All it is is two small hydraulic cylinders that when actuated by an electrically operated hydraulic valve drive down shafts locking the bucket in. I have not seen this on a tractor yet. Since the new tractor quick attaches use the same universal attachment mechanism there is no reason why a tractor couldn’t use the same system.

So here is something for you entrepreneurs and inventers out there. Come up the mod. Advertise it on TBN and make your fortune. Otherwise us build it yourself guys will just have to come up with it on our own. It looked really easy.

This week I am invited to the local CAT dealers open house/barbeque. I’ll try and get more cost info then. Maybe I should take a camera?

I agree. I was thinking of some sort of electrically-driven pin, but hydraulic would be cool too.

That would be great! Enjoy the bar-b-q!

Guys,

I don't think this would help much on a tractor. On a bobcat I can look right down and see that the bucket or other implement is lined up right and then use the electronics/hydraulics to lock it in place. Your right there and have a great view of the bucket attachment.

But at least on my tractor the hood is in the way. I usually need to get off the tractor and make sure its lined up correctly.
I then flip the levers while I am off.

I have to say that this is one of the best things about the "Boomer" line.
With the sloping hood design, I can look right down and see everything when I am driving into my attachments, the Only reason I do get off the tractor is to lock the pins down.

My tractor does not have the sloping hood design
But I can easily see everything when driving into attachments from the driver seat.

All u really need to see is the top outside corners so the top hooks in, when u lift it the bottom will fall right in place.
Only problem on most SSL is when u get hi-flow hydraulics u can't get the hydraulic locks. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Some place I saw a kit to add the power locks and it used 1 cylinder in the middle.

Fred,

You are correct about checking the alignment. However most the time if the attachment is clean and the adaptor is clean you can just hook under the lip, jiggle it a little to make sure it's seated and lock the pins. I think it would be nice.
