Anyone know of a toplink for a JD 990 that is quick change? I understand I can screw and unscrew mine, however here and there I would like to be able to quickly change from fully retracted to fully extended.

I'm not sold on going whole hog and doing a TnT set up, but more looking for something that has lets say 3-5 settings where you possibly pull a pin and extend or retract it. I'm thinking similar to how NewHolland has the adjustable 3pt arms for varying width attachments.

Any ideas?

How exactly do you adjust it?

If you search for "hydaulink" on this site you can read all about it. Also, they have videos about the product. I've never seen one, but as I understand, you can extend the top link on the fly by opening the valve while there is weight on the hitch. To shorten the link, you must lower the implement, putting the top link in compression.

Looks like you'd open the valve and adjust the length but perhaps raising and lowering the 3 pt hitch, then close the valve. Not sure where the excess fluid would go though. The rod end of the cylinder holds less fluid than the other end.

My "in between" link (OEM to full hydraulic) was a hydaulink. It's sitting in my barn to use as a backup if my hydraulic should ever fail. I would not recommend it. If you need to be able to make changes, bite the bullet and go regular Hydraulic.

You say you have a hydaulink for sale?:D I have thought about getting one, but If I do change from the jackscrew OEM link, I think I will just bite the bullet and put the money into a hydraulic one. You have helped confirm that inclination.

Yup, it's worth it and the number of things you can adjust with it will surprise you- from my rake to the angle of my carry-all flatbed.

At the risk of getting flamed for not spending mucho dollars on tech products, I would suggest you go to TCS and just buy a top link for each piece of equipment, adjust it one time for most used position and then just hook it up. Even at 66 years of age, I am not that confined to the seat of my tractor (at least not yet) that I cant get off, adjust the screw 3PH in 30 seconds and get back on. I admit that when using a box blade or rear blade, hydraulic adjustment would be nice, but I haven't used either of those in 3 or 4 years. For those of you doing lots of grading, a TNT would be very useful.
