QUICK CONNECT REAR LEAKING

Hello,


I have a quick question. (TRACTOR KUBOTA M4060) The other day, after I finished mowing, my rear quick connect started leaking hydraulic fluid fairly fast. In the picture, you can see a stream of fluid coming from the bottom of the quick connect on the right.

I figure I need to replace the quick connect. However, I'm also wondering if the type of hydraulic fluid I'm using could be a factor. I've been using O'Reilly's Universal Hydraulic fluid, and I've heard that anything other than Kubota fluid can cause overheating. I'm due for a fluid change anyway, so I plan to switch to Kubota fluid. Was the fluid the cause of the leak, or was the quick connect simply worn?

Wrong fluid types can cause a few different problems, granted, but not that one. I've run across some Kubota couplers that leaked when not being used. Simple (and least expensive) solution was to get a male end to match, screw a pipe plug into it, and plug it into the coupler. When you need/use the remotes again, put the plugs in a bag in the tool box.

I think that coupler is just so embarrassed about being so filthy, it's trying to clean itself!

OMG, clean those things out, and get some "plugs" to put in them, when you aren't using them!

Last year I started to have a leak in the same quick connect when I plugged in my line for my hydralic flail mower. I thought it might be the plug from the mower, which I repaired, but the leak is back now without use of the hydraulic on the mower. Again, I thought it was over heating.

Thanks for the idea about the plugs. I'll add that to my purchase. I am also going to replace the remote and change the fluid to Kubota's.

If a piece of crud gets between the metal ball or poppet and seat they will leak. Look into the QD that is leaking to see if there is something obvious trapped in that area.

If poppet style they can also tilt sideways a little causing them to leak.

Normally just pushing on the ball or poppet will get them to reseat.

If leaking while connected and in use the O-ring in the female half needs replacing.

Cleanliness is next to godliness.... Also prevent lots of problems... Clean up fittings ... Check for crud between ball/poppet and base, and use caps/plugs to prevent dirt entering QD....
