Quick hitch for 3 point – options

   / Quick hitch for 3 point – options #21
Some people can botch anything. Even something as simple as installing a PTO extension. Should be an excellent solution provide all parts are clean when joined. I would use a little low-strength thread-locker as insurance.

Personally, I would work with the Pat's EZ Hitch you have before seeking The Holy Grail elsewhere. While there are many variations on the Quick Hitch they all seek to provide the same ultimate solution. Pat's is well regarded by users.

Does your L3410 have Three Point Hitch telescoping Lower Links?
PTO extensions will alter the dimension between the end of the (extended) tractor shaft and the implement drawbar attaching point and three point hitch lift link mount points. This change can adversely affect the PTO shaft front u-joint angle in turns (drawbar) and with changes in implement height (3 point implements). The installation of the extension isn't the problem, the use of an extension without proper knowledge of their shortcomings is. Extensions are a crutch, a bandaid and more often than not an inadequate solution.

3) Finding an adapter for the ‘tractor end’ of the top link. (a member here fashioned a great one a while back but I lack his skills).
Have one made. Check with local high school shop teacher or a machine shop:

For any others who are following this and interested, here are a couple of links to TBN discussions the EZ hitch mentioned by Foodplot, and of Pat's. Interesting and useful discussions.

Looking at Carter & Son's EZ Hitch, I don't see a lot of difference between their product and Pat's, other than their's is fabricated and Pat's is cast.

The price is fairly similar too.

The only thing Pat's may have over the EZ Hitch is the stabilizing arm that comes as part of the kit.

And... Pat's comes in colors to match your tractor. Gotta save the important bit for last!

I used to use a quick hitch, but it made it harder to hook up the pto shaft. I got the Pat's. I like the set up. I didn't need a pto extender and my original top link works just fine.

Updating:
I determined my hydraulic top link would need to be replaced - even extended full out it would tip the top of any implment way in. I also wanted the extra height for my carry all which rides a bit low. I posted questions to the owner of the EZ Hitch - he called and addressed my issues immediately. I ordered the EZ Hitch and the spreader bar. Nothing against Pat's - just didn't want to pay for the new hydraulic top link, the EZ Hitch seems it will suit my needs well, price was reasonable, and figured I could sell Pat's.

Thanks to all for the input- it resolved my issue.
