I decided it was time to try. I bought some 1x3 flat stock & some 2x3 tube. I discovered quickly that I need to learn how to read a tape measure.
2x3 tube won't fit over my lift arms.

They seem to work ok. I tried to see how easily they released but, forgot to undo the toplink and pto shaft. Didn't work too well  .
Hopefully I get some time to try them out for real this spring.

Shvl...... those don't look too bad, even for a hacker like yourself !! :D What are you using for pins to retain the impliment? Something hardened? Interesting you made them so that the impliment sits above the arm, thereby keeping the impliment from getting "heavier" by being a few inches behind the arms, ala Pat's.

5/16"x3" pins from TSC. Hope they work longterm.

I kinda copied the ones from Carters I saw on e-bay.

Surely not crude in my book.was it difficult to cut out the 'J' pattern? I assume another one of those the right tool for the right job. did you use a bandsaw? tocut right through it. LOL.
I see no reason why the 'J" couldn't be welder right onto the arm, leaving either option for use.
Thanks for posting that , nice job...

I wish I had a band saw! I tried my 14" cut-off saw but, had a hard time holding the piece straight. I ended up using my angle grinder w/ a cut-off wheel.

I think they look pretty dang good and creative!! That must have been fun cutting the J-hook with a angle grinder.
