Quick Hitches Quick Hitches

quick hitch is it rally a cat I??? No..its rather confusing...ASAE specs. show a cat I QH to have bottom links as cat III...

The Deere I-Match comes standard with the adaptors...or the easy cheap way is to buy some .99cent cat I - II adaptors and some II - III adaptors. Place the 2 inside 3 and tack weld for a economy bushing.... Maybe one day someone will realize the standard should have been cat I size links...

Most all Deere attachments offered today are I-Match compatable... and will fit the ASAE spec Hitches.

I prefer telescoping links and crank lifts over quick hitches. Just my preference, but the quick hitch is just something else to slop around on the back.

Telescoping links are definately a plus. Now if the Mfg's would make them telescoping hooks it would be even better. If my tractor had those(hooks) I would not have purchased a QH.

I can see where Pats easy change has its' benefits. Its' a tad more work but no modifing implements and it should work with everything unlike the QH.

Knowing what I do now its' a toss up wether I'd buy another one. There are other systems that use dedicated plates for each implement ensuring a quick hook up. However that gets spendy rather quick when you have multiple implements.

The key to ease of hook up for any 3 point implement is to set it off in such a manner that it will stay just like you set it off. If you set it off in the mud or weeds it will not be fun to hook it back up.

Bingo.

That (""to set it off in such a manner that it will stay just like you set it off"") is also a good practice even when using the quick hitch system, that is to set the 3pt attachment off on a good surface, and in a position that the attachment will not move (sink into the mud, etc.) after it is released.

Regards size, I have done a little research on the QH's for cat I 3pts, and find that the bottom two 'hooks' are sized to accept cat III, and the top hook for cat II. Not sure why, but suspect that cat II bushings will work in the bottom pts, but just will fit loosely. But as long as it works, that is what counts.

I am sure happy with my I-match, and can't imagine being without it. I may add some chain hooks to make carrying (and hooking) chain a bit easier (with the logging tongs in the top hook, I also like to have chain along to reach logs that I can't back up to, or to secure the log in case the hooks would slip off).
