Have to make a decision today. ~ $1300 for more horsepower.....is it worth it???? I know more HP is always better if you can afford it, but loader use differences - Is it decernable???
$1300 will buy a nice tiller or rotary cutter. The 3010 is a very competent tractor. I doubt you would notice the difference in hp while doing loader work, as the two tractors you mention are otherwise identical.
I went with the 2910 over the 2710 because of the extra features. It was only an additional $800. If I had to pay that much just for 2 extra hp, I would have gotten the 2710.
One last thought. are both tractors are rated for 5' equipment? If the extra hp allows you to drive a bigger rotary cutter and you have 10 acres to mow, than the $1300 would be well spent.
I bought the L3010. I have to work on very steep hills so I am probably safer with the lesser HP.
Regardless, I love my L3010 and I think everyone should own one!
I bought my 3010 hst about 6 weeks ago. The 3410 hst cost $1100 more and I passed on it. I knew I was over-buying with 30 hp let alone 34. Happy with my decision. If you have lots to mow, till, plow, sno-blo, or steep hills go for more hp. I put my extra money towards a backhoe.
I bought the 3410. I am still struggling with the additional $1100 - it is the exact cost of a 5' Woods rotary cutter. However there are two things I've learned on here over the last few weeks.....No one has ever complained about owning a Hydrostatic, and no one EVER complained about having more power. I've been told the resale is slightly better (% wise) on the 3410. Additionally, the dealers around here sold out of them early - indicating either demand or people don't pop the +$1100 for the 3410 - most buy the 3010. Incidentally, the 3410 with the rebates and the deal the dealer gave with NYS Sales Tax (7%) was $500 less than the NH TC33D with tax before delivery. (Both had FEL) Out the door to my house $19153.00.
