Just bought a TC-40 and was wondering if anyone had any input for me on getting a quick plate for the loader. I would like to be able to get a set of forks for the tractor.
Would I need to get a new bucket or can I have the old one fit to the plate?

Is it worth it at all??

Yes it is worth it ... just fit the bucket to the new SSQA

Blank SSL QA plates are available to weld on to your current bucket. They run anywhere from $100 to $200 depending on the guage of steel. This is a much more wallet friendly approach once you have a SSL QA faceplate on your loader. 16LA loader?

Yes it is a 16A and don't I need to have a plate on the loader itself?? That is what it shows in the book from NH.

Where can I Buy one??

Yes, for the 16LA you would need a SSL QA type face plate for the loader first. You can buy one from your local NH dealer. The part number is (716653056) and it runs about $600. It will come as a kit and may require you to reuse the pins currently holding the bucket on.

Once you have the SSL QA faceplate then you can re-fit your bucket to work. It is going to be much more economical than buying a new bucket.

Hope this helps.

You are getting great advice. Like blueriver, I can tell you that it is certainly worth the conversion. I converted my pin-on bucket to quick-attach and there is not a handier feature on my tractor. Productivity soars when you can swap out FEL attachments. Of course, it's hard on the pocketbook because of all the neat stuff you'll want after getting the QA.;)

Absolutely.

A set of QA pallet forks and QA hay forks have saved me a bunch of backaches. Yesterday I lifted 5 old 4'X6" stall mats from the stables to the dumpster at one time and carried 6 square bales at a time from the hay barn back to the stables with the pallet forks.

Today I have to go to TSC and get a pallet load of shavings (5% discount). I first am going to HF to get a pallet jack so I can park the pallet in the corner of the stables and not have to unload it like I did before into a stall.

I store bags of mulch on a pallet in the barn. When I need it I just move the pallet to the work location. I use pallets to move firewood from the pile to the house. After winter I move it away from the house so it does not attract critters and bugs.

This years purchase is a 3rd loader function and hay grapple so I can unload the hay trailer and walk the next day. Then a bucket grapple to help clean up limbs and such around the place. It makes your tractor so much more useful and your day more productive.

Thanks for everyone's help!!! I just called Kahnn Tractor in Conn. and it was not in stock. The price was a bit on the high side at 700.00 and that was only the tractor side..... The bucket side was separate...... Leaving tonight on vacation so I will make the trip from RI there when I get back.

Thanks again!! You guys are a BIG help!!

$700 is rather high, but it may include freight as this thing would be shipped in via LTL carrier rather than the typical Lanter carrier that is free to the dealer.

The blank plate for the bucket conversion should be in the $150-$200 range.
