Tires Quick question: Will industrial tires tear up your lawn?

/ Quick question: Will industrial tires tear up your lawn? #11
I have the R4's and they don't damage the lawn unless I'm really pushing my luck (if it's really wet or if I spin the tires pushing something). I have a much smaller tractor than my CK30 with Ag tires and it causes more damage for sure in "like" conditions.

If it's dry and you will be fine with the R4's.

NOTE: I help a neighbour out with his horses all the time. His ground is very soft and always damp - spongy would be how I describe it (the water table is probably about a foot below his lawn). I never tear his lawn up although sometimes I will leave depressions that "bounce back" in a day or so.

NOTE 2: I'm sure you already know this but if you drive in the same spot over and over you will compact the ground and kill the grass (regardless of tire).

Thanks everyone for giving me a better feel for this. I will go with the "industrial" tires and go easy when I'm on the grass. It's mostly pretty hard soil, and I'm plowing snow 4-6 months of the year anyway.

Thanks,

Jon

The industrial tires aren't to bad with snow but I end up running chains on the rear after Winter has set in and there is a foot or better snow falls with a little hard pack. I can only compare to ag tires which seem to have softer rubber with less surface area touching the ground and grab a little better. I think you'll like the the ind. tires for a little more bite and the grass will be fine if you take it easy when needed.
Enjoy the new toy. :)

Hi all,

I've traded my CK-20 for a brand new CK-20S. I'll be getting the newer Kioti backhoe in the process.

I've had the calcium filled turf tires for the last two years; I'm not mowing the lawn with the tractor but I do cross it from time to time.

I have the choice for either industrial or turf tires with my new one which will be setup tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday. I haven't had much traction issues with the turfs, but I was wondering if I go with the industrial tires (also calcium filled) will I notice much lawn damage?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Jon

I have a ten acre lawn I mow with R4's. They don't tear up my lawn.
