Hey all.. THe other day I was fumbling with the keyring on my ROPS pin, and ended up taking off my glove (COLD!!) and dropping the silly thing in the snow. well, to ease my frustration, I decided to make some quick release pins for winter use, when I won't be as likely to tip my tractor, and I will be putting the bar up and down a fair amount. The only bad thing i can see with my pins is the extra holes probably weaken the pins a lot, and it will probably be pretty easy to snag them on branches etc.
Basically what I did was take a drawbar pin, welded the handle onto it, drilled the end of the handle for the keeper, and tied the snap pin to the keeper. Then I dipped the handle in plastidip (you can get it at most hardware stores.. ) mainly for looks, but it's grippy, and resistant to cold.
