Hats Off To KrisHanson! Thank you for solving a shortcoming that we all have to deal with! I will copy your idea as soon as I can! Also, thank you for your posting on the Class II Step; I will also try to duplicate your efforts there as well! Thanks again,
Arthur

Nice job Kris! I mounted a canopy on my ROPS and the pins your referring to let the canopy rattle like the devil so I pulled the pins and replaced them with bolts & locknuts. No more rattles from the canopy or was that can-o-peas?

Nice job Kris. Is "plastidip" the brand name? I can see a lot of uses for that stuff. I need to get some!

Do your pins rattle? Mine rattle and since they're right about ear height, it gets irritating. I'm wondering of I dip the whole pin in plastidip it might reduce the rattling?

It's a brand name, but I was more or less using it as a generic description... Here is a page I found in a quick Google search..PlastiDip

I think if you coated the whole pin, it would be hard to get in the holes.. One interesting side effect of the new pins is they are quite a bit shorter than the original ones, so they are snug, I didn't notice any rattle with my new pins..

Plasticoat or PlastiDip leaves a thick coat on things. You can thin it with mineral spirits and paint it on, but the thinner it is the easier it is to tear off. It is a lot like the rubber handles on pliers etc.

Nice job. On my TC35D I just replaced the keyring pins with R-pins.

Kris - When you said you "tied the snap pin to the keeper", what did you use? Is it string or metal wire/cable? How did you attach it to the draw pin? I got a can of Plastidip at Lowes, but won't coat the whole pin, since like you said it will make it hard to get the pin in. I've decided to put a small spring on the pin to keep some tension on it so it won't rattle.

Mosey,

I used picture frame wire, which I wrapped around the lynch pin, and twisted the end around the wire and soldered it for a stronger bond. on the handle end, I drilled the handle for the wire.

You could buy the special crimps they sell for the thin guage stainless cable at many hardware stores if you don't want to mess with soldering..

Kris,

Nice work. Not to burst your bubble, but you should have bought a smaller tractor. MY TC18 has captive hardwar - just pull the ring, rotate, then fold ROPS. See pics
