Here's what the manual says ==> "Since water and contaminants settle at the bottom of the sediment bowl, a drain plug is provided at the bottom of the filter. Drain water in fuel, by loosening drain plug once every 50 hrs. of operation." I am many hours of operation from needing to do that. Thanks.

Here's what the manual says (I just looked it up) ==> "Since water and contaminants settle at the bottom of the sediment bowl, a drain plug is provided at the bottom of the filter. Drain water in fuel, by loosening drain plug once every 50 hrs. of operation." So I was over 40 hours of usage before that needed to be done. The 50 hour service was done at 52 hours at the dealer. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

However, if your sediment bowl is in plain site, as mine is on my Mahindra 2615, it is a simple task to take a quick look and see if things aren't right. In the long run, forget about the factory "suggestions", and seize the day.

It also helps to understand that when they give service intervals in hours of use it is expected that it will not take half a decade to accumulate a couple weeks worth of run time.

I check ours every time I fuel up, if not every time I start it up, the bowl is visible from the side of the tractor.

Exactly. It should be checked at every startup in a case like the OP has with such infrequent use.

The hourly interval of draining a sediment bowl, or even engine and hydraulic fluid change are based on an assumed number of rated hours in a given calender time frame. For example, if your engine oil calls for 250 meter hours, which in most cases run on the tach drive, and only 10 hours show up on the meter in a years time, it would be wise to change it once a year, not wait 25 years. Not running hard has negative effects in multiple ways, and as such, the maintenance schedule needs modified to match.

I hate to hear that the OP is having issues with the machine, and hope repairs can be made cost effectively.

I skipped a few pages but I would like to say.. Mahindra DID NOT MAKE the fuel system..
The poster said he only wanted Mahindra parts put back on.. Its either going to be Bosch or Zexel who manuf. the fuel system.
That's probably why your paying so much.?? They're looking up the Mahindra part #'s instead of the manuf. p#..
The manuf. {Bosch/Zexel} p#'s are stamped on the pump AND injectors..
Its sounds as tho your/they're opting to buy all NEW instead of repairing what u have.?? & THATS where your money is going..
& that labor is way out there.!! I can get that pump off of there in less than an hour..
I would prob. charge 2 hrs labor to get the pump & inj. OFF & 2-3 to go back on.
I've rebuilt pumps that have taken out the main pump hsg.. & had to replace the majority of internal parts & the bill was never over 1400.00
& I've been doing this for over 30 years..
I wonder exactly WHO determined the pump & injectors were beyond repair & HAD TO be replaced.??
Good luck..

Re: You need to be very careful if you are considering a Mahindra

At this point, if I were you, I’d trade it in a get another Kioti. ;)
