Careful with aftermarket backhoes if you have any warranty left. Putting one on tends to void your warranty.

That is a question that is on my list for the dealer. He said he took $500 off the package for the Woods. If it voids the warranty I'll pay the extra $500 for the Mahindra.

I would beat the dealer up on the woods back hoe, I would want the mahindra BH with that fancy mahindra seat. Unless the woods was half price the mahindra BH I wouldn’t want it. They are not getting full price out of me for something special order just to get rid of it.

The mahindra BH is plenty stout, my buddy is hard on things and he hasn’t been able to hurt his yet.

I hear ya. I'm thinking it may not be a good choice.

Looks like the Woods BH has a bit better stats as far as digging goes. Weight is a tad lighter. Idk, I would take it but not at the price they want out of it. I would threaten to have them mount a mahindra BH with the more expensive seat. You lose out on the more expensive seat also, so that’s a loss.

I hear you John. I'm going to see what we can work out, I like your negotiating tactic on this issue and thank you for the advice!

Have you put eyes on the tractor yet? Is the BH blue?

Have you called other mahindra dealers? Even ones out of your state, lots of guys here have found better deals out of their own state, something about less taxes or no taxes idk something was cheaper.

The Woods BH is painted red to match the Manihdra. I considered looking at other dealers but, as a new tractor owner, having the dealer 5 miles away is a big plus to me. He's offered to waive all delivery fees and even to come service the machine on property because I live so close. That's a big part of my decision. I'm not a mechanical guy, yet, but I feel I will get there soon. I'm not young but not too old to learn :) Nonetheless, if I need service in the next year or two he's willing to send his service guys here, to my property, at no cost, to perform service or maintenance.

I meant more along the lines of pricing, see how other dealers stack up with the same rig. If they come in cheaper it’s also another bargaining chip.

Gotcha John. I'll look around and see what I can find for the same rig. Thanks again!

Max 26XL 4WD HST | BYO Mahindra

I would also do turf tires over R4s, the titan multi trac tires, not the golf course turfs. Lots of threads on tires here, turfs are just my personal preference, many here agree, many don’t.

I've been looking at Mahindras for a place I have in Sullivan Cty, NY. Was thinking about the Max or 1526, but am thinking about the the upcoming 1635 for a little more PTO HP to run a the Wallenstein BXM32 (or even 42?) chipper/shredder.

Just as an FYI for comparison, I was just quoted the following on a Max 26XL HST w/ FEL (NO backhoe) from a dealer over the border in PA:
- $20,500
- $2000 for the grapple (One of the Mahindra grapples, I'm assuming, but not sure which one...)

3rd Function included, but I'm not sure if they incl. the 3rd function kit / install in the grapple price or the tractor (the quote seemed to indicate it was in the tractor price).

Pricing was based on the 10% down and 60mo 0% financing option.

MSRP on a back hoe and bucket for the Max XL is ~$7k, so maybe ~$6k extra all said and done? That would put the quote at $28,500, so another $1500 for the mower and tire chains doesn't sound unreasonable.

I'm also kind of partial to the 55" Wicked Graple, though, which is 1/2 the weight of the Mahindra Root Grapple, and is currently on sale for $1600.

Ask to read through the operator's manual, you should stumble across the statement regarding aftermarket backhoes early on. Reason being, if not done right it's easy to snap a tractor in half. A lot of Mahindra hoes are US made KMW out of Kansas.

Mine does that and he's 50 miles away.

The woods BH will hang further off the rear than the Mahindra BH will. Changes your weight distribution more to the rear. Makes the overall length longer. You will also drag easier when going thru a dip due to how far the Woods extends to the rear. Also will affect maneuvering in tight spaces. I have a Max 26XL that I love but I bought it for tight spaces otherwise I would of gone larger.

Well I took the advice of many here and went with a Mahindra BH instead of the Woods. Pulled the trigger yesterday and am expecting delivery early next week. I also opted to go with a used Wildkat grapple that was in the dealer's inventory to save some cash and lighten the load as the Mahindra small grapple is a lot heavier. Thank you all for the advice and encouragement. Looking forward to learning as much as possible here and playing, I mean, working with my new machine!

Do a search on some of my posts on my Max28 to see how i modded and work the little tractor.
