Buying Advice R-4 Tires or Ag Tires on Kubota L-3800HST

Of course the Ag tires are taller so your tractor is going to be a little less stable.

I think it depends on the tractor, for mine the R1's and R4's have the same diameter. The turf tires are signficantly shorter and wider though which I think is pretty much the rule for all brands.
I guess a partial solution for brush hogging saplings with R1's is to cut a bit higher, so the stubble is less stiff and can deflect or break before sticking into the tire.

I went with the R4's more of an all around tire.

dontn, I've been going through a similar tire study before getting tractor in hand. Got many good comments in thread "traditional ag vs. industrial tread" (Owning/operating), plus some interesting thumbnails.

For my purposes, I'm going with the R1. I know, at times, it's gonna farkle up the lawn/surface, but I'll have to learn to live with it. I need all the traction I can get when it gets muddy.
