I am currently in Iraq. My wife just bought us a Kubota B2910 primarily for mowing. It's considerably bigger than our JD 455 so she is apprehensive about using it on slopes. I had saw the advertisements for R&B Manufacturing's tiltmeter product. Today I sent an email to Mr Hedgecock about ordering one via email because of my current location. Mr Hedgecock sent me back this response via email:

Hi Richard,
Let me get this straight. You are in Iraq fighting for our freedom, and you want to pay for a tiltmeter for your wifes safety? Sorry, it does not work that way. I will ship your wife a tiltmeter today. No charge. You people are sacrificing so much for us at home, that this is the least I can do for you. And Please SIR, pass along our thanks to all the guys! And, Please tell your wife if she has ANY questions about how to mount, or operate the meter, please call me personally. I will either tell her how on the phone, or personally go and mount it for her. And, again, Thank you and all the guys.
Sincerely,
Rick Hedgecock,
President, R&B Mfg. Inc.

I am very proud of Mr Hedgecock for his support. I am also very proud to say that he is a fellow Missourian and his business is only about 90 miles from my home. He is a Great American and I hope those on this website needing a product of this type will utilize this preferred Vendor. His website is: www.tiltmeter.com

God Bless America!!!!

ovrszd,

I am currently in Iraq. My wife just bought us a Kubota B2910 primarily for mowing.

I read that much of our post and figured Rick would just send you a Tiltmeter. :) And he did. :D

Its a great product. I have three of them. I was skeptical of the double sided tape that holds the meters on the tractor but it works. One is mounted to the FEL support and the other to the ROPS. I don't have a garage so the tractor sits in the weather. I can't remember when I bought the first tiltmeter but it has to be 5-6 years ago. The origional tapes is still working!:D

Just tell the wife to stick the Tiltmeter on a place that is easly seen. It should be vertical. Then just go slow. Most of the accidents I read about are people working when tired and/or going to fast. Have her go slow. The Tiltmeter won't stop you from overturning the tractor but its a great tool educate your fanny on the steepness of slopes. Both can help you/wife from getting into trouble if she is going slow enough. Afterwhile you just use the meter to make sure you are right. There is one section of ditch I mow that I use the meter every single time. The angle very gradually changes and I can watch the meter to make sure I'm not getting in too deep. Usually my fanny says its time to leave well before the meter but the meter is a good safety check.

Thanks for helping out Rick!

ovrszd thanks for the overseas "work". :D Tell the people in your unit Thank you as well.

Why did you pick ovrsizd as a name? I'm afraid to ask.... :):):)

Later,
Dan

I'm so politically incorrect that I just went to R&B's website, printed off my order form, and faxed in my order for one of their inclinometers. I'd considered one before but had never gotten around to deciding if I wanted one or not. After seeing this thread and what kind of company R&B is, I decided that I wanted to do business with a company that supports the efforts of the troops who serve our country and allow people like me to sit at home comfortable and free to make such decisions.

Personally I think that whether you are for or against the war, it doesn't matter, you should support the troops doing their job keeping our country safe and free. Again, don't confuse my comments as either pro-war or anti-war, but I've always believed that you should either love our country or leave it. There are no barriers at our borders keeping you in. If it is violating any rules to proclaim love and support for my family and my country, then I suppose I don't belong here.

Ovrszd,

You may be proud of Mr. Hedgecock for his support, but like Mr Hedgecock I am proud of you. I am proud of the sacrifice you make on a daily basis. My prayers are for you and your family. It has to be hard to be away for as long are you are and the conditions you are in for both you and your family. Give your family our best from TBN.

BX23barry or whatever your name is, shame on you. Your post was not called for in my book.

Wow,,,, I am first, very appreciative of the support given here on this thread. Secondly, somewhat taken back by the intensity of the responses.

When I ordered a tiltmeter from R&B I filled out the form and attached it to an email with all my credit card info because it would be quicker than the 2-4 weeks it would take to get there by snail mail. I mentioned to Rick that I was in Iraq as an explanation of why I was trying to do business this way. I never intended for him to offer me his product free. I did not approach him in a political manner or play on his support or lack of it for the war. He did not respond to me in a political manner showing support or a lack of it for the war. Rick simply felt compelled to give me a tiltmeter as a way to support me and my wife personally. He certainly did not do this as a means to further his business.

When I posted this thread I did not do so with political motivation. Whether or not I support the war. Whether or not YOU support the war. That's OUR individual, personal business. I posted this thread as an indicator of the kind of businessman Rick is. As one person stated, he sponsors this site which contributes to it being free for us to use. I just found this site about six months ago. I visit here every chance I get. I find my kind of people here. I'm 54 years old, midwest country to the bone. My wife and I live on 20 acres and own my family farm in partnership with my brother and sister. I put political manipulation aside when I run across someone like Rick. I would have ran this thread regardless of his motivation to give us a tiltmeter just to proudly display the kind of people that I run into here on this website.

Given this to do over, I would again post this thread. I'm still proud of Rick for what he has done. As one person stated, I don't think Rick will be too upset that one poster might be offended by his generosity.

I humbly do my job as a soldier. I've humbly done my job as a soldier since I was drafted by our government in 1971. A tour in Vietnam as a Grunt, a tour during Desert Storm, a tour in Iraq 2003-2004 and this tour in Iraq now give me the right to be humble about my service. They also give me the right to post this thread about someone doing something good. Those tours also give you the right to post any type of response you like on this forum.

As for my "ovrszd" name, my wife and I are Jeepers. We own 8. We 4wheel offroad a lot. To do that everything on the Jeep must be oversized to stand the stress. I'm attaching a picture of my wife doing what she enjoys in another vehicle that probably needs a tiltmeter!!!!! No response necessary Rick!!!!
