R4 Tires with 72\" Rear Finish Mower

Is anyone out there running a L3710 4WD with R4 Tires and a 72" rear finish mower?

I have just ordered a L3710HST 4WD With R4 Tires.

I am wondering if the rear R4 tires are too wide to allow the use of a 72" rear finish mower.

What I am wondering is if the distance from the outside edge to outside edge of these tires is greater that 72". In which the rear finish mower would not extend beyond the tires making it impossible to mow close to fences, buildings, etc.

I am planning on using this tractor for open field mowing and also for mowing my finished lawn. I have opted for the R4's because they are less likely to damage the turf during turning, but will offer good traction in mud and snow.

The dealer is not picking up my new tractor at the warehouse until next week, so I can still opt for the R1's, which are not as wide, but I am afraid they will do to much damage to my lawn.

I know I could buy a 84" rear finish mower, but would rather stick with the 72".

Thanks in advance to anyone who has experiences or information in this matter.

The width of the R4 tires on my 3710 Kub are about 65-66". I have a 65" box blade and the width is about the same. A 72" mower would work but barely.

I have the same tractor with a Land Pride 72 inch finish mower. I have a few inches outside the tires for the mower. I had too many trees to use a bigger finish mower. Next time I use the finish mower I will measure the distance with the R4's.

There are several widths possible with your tires, depending on how the tires and rims are setup on your tractor. You should be able to have the dealer install either the R1's or the R4's to give you the optimum configuration for what you want. The wider you go, the better the stability, of course. While I don't yet have a finish mower, the tires on my 4610 (basically the same platform as your 3710) are set to just match the outside of 72" implements like a rotary cutter or box blade. You will have to be very careful doing any close up work with a pull behind, regardless of whether your tire width gives you a few inches to play with or not. Safest bet is some kind of trimming mower for the closeups.
