R4041 Lower Radiator Hose Heater

Finally had a chance to test the heater today, it was below freezing for the first time in days (20F). Had the heater plugged in for 2 hours and the lower hose was more than warm but not quite to hot to touch and the block at the goose-neck (T-stat) was warm. In the video you can see and hear there was no smoke and only normal knocking. So far very pleased with how the heater worked. Will have to wait and see how durable it is. @ Gale; there was nothing in the instructions about the placement of the plug, that was just what worked best for my application.

Sounded smooth. I am leaning toward the "Zero Start". You said your hose was 1.5" , was that ID ? If I order one for my 4041 is 1.5" the one? Thanks

The hose is 1.5 ID so if the Zero Start is 1.5 OD it will fit. The Kats that I installed was 1.5 OD part number 14600.

I installed the same in line heater in my previous tractor (Mahindra 2615 HST). Put it in about the same spot on my lower hose as you. I used to have mine plugged into a HD appliance timer that would turn on about 2 hours before I got out of work. That way it would be warm when I got home and ready to start and go plow snow. Being installed low natural convection takes over. Heat rises pushing the cold water actually circulating it through the block and radiator. I checked the antifreeze temp in the radiator once with an infrared scanner and it read about 130 degrees. As far as durability, I used my Katz heater for 10 years and it still worked when I sold the tractor. My new tractor is spoiled and spends its cold days in a heated garage (40 degrees) when I'm not home. The garage didn't have heat when I owned the 2615. Only had a salamander for heat then.

I think they've replaced that part # with this one: 86590273
