R4's ... can you stud them?

Fred, Snowmobile dealers do have them. For what we have found we have not been using the carbide head do to the cost about three times what the plain screw is!
The best for you might be to get is the 1" base for the industrial tires and you can go up to a 3/4" tall head. We buy them from a wholesaler and for our tracks they are fine, for the center of the industrial tires we have been clipping them off to the 1" length. We stock the 1 1/4" base as for most applications we have no problems and if you only wanted a pattern on the outer edges you would be fine with the 1 1/4 shank. The name on the box is super Trac and the description is Ice Racing Stud. We stock the 1 1/4" long shank and the 1/4" head. They have less leverage to pull out and we have had some in the 1" length do that but not any real numbers. retail them for 152.00 a box of 500 and they can do all four tires and more depending on pattern. We install with a sheet rock screw gun.

I put some metal screws into the lugs of the Ag tires on my Gravely. Just measure the depth of the lug and don't put a longer screw than that into them.

Anyone have photos of their R4's with studs?

Also, how much scratching to pavement will this cause?
