R4\'s on the front?

I've found a 1050 at a deal and the tires are turf tread all around. The front ones are slick. I would love to put R1's or R4's on the back, but they have a few hours left in them. I found a couple of R4's the correct size for the front close by. Anyone have comments on how the R4's would perform on the front of a 2 wheel drive 1050? My main use will be rough cut mowing and box blading. Are R4's a bad idea? Thanks!

Re: R4\'s on the front?

If the 1050 has power steering it doesn't much matter what you have on the front, but if it doesn't you would be better off with Ag's on the rear and ribs on the front.

If it is two-wheel drive, it really doesn't matter what tread you have on the front. There are lots of folks that run M+S tires on the front of small utilities.

I'd love to put ribs on the front. Unfortunatly, it has the wide wheels on it because it came with turfs /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Anyone know where there is a set of used wheels for a 1050?
