Rabbits, how many is too many?

I have taken advantage of the many covey of doves. Have not yet hunted rabbit. I have had hasenpfeffer, and enjoyed it. Perhaps I will this winter coming up. The deer population is pretty good around here also, been kinda busy these last two years to really hunt. But now that we have our place the way we want it, it should free up some time to hunt more. Will have to look into pelt care....

Everything eats doves and rabbits.... they are nature's snickers bars.

I have tried our native water hen, resembles a ball of string boiled with a chicken stock cube.
Not keen to do it again anytime soon.

I have never seen more than 2 rabbits at a time at my place. I think they have figured out that I call the dogs off them (for disease reasons) and are not very afraid. I figure the dogs get more exercise if I call them off day after day than if I let them kill the rabbits. Yesterday I watched one of the rabbits sit there and eat my weeds. Cannot beat that. I do not really like them around but since I have no exposed fresh water source they self regulate, the only moisture they get is in the weeds and grass they eat. I manage to keep them out of the garden.
