Donman,
We've had good results with Plantskydd that we get throught the local Conservation District. It repels by scent, and it keeps both rabbits and deer away.

now we have a 2 strand elec. fence with a 12 volt batt powered fencer keepen 'em out
What spacing and heights of wire do you use? This sounds like a solution I should think about considering the garden is not on the same property my house is on.

Oh, I post now and then. I'm staying pretty busy lately.

Yes, there are testimonials on the site that claim its quite effective against deer. Its also just plain fun. I watched a raccoon get sprayed a few nights ago. It was plenty amusing to watch it run for cover.

Young children also love to play around and keep cool on hot days. The good thing for me is that the sprinkler is only activated when the kids are playing. It wastes a lot less water than just having a sprinkler running for the kids to splash around in.

Two words: "Liquid Fence"

Look for it at any garden center or farm supply place. Buy it in the concentrate bottle and mix your own to save some money. (20 oz spray bottle is like $12, 8 gallons worth of concentrate mix is $30) Works great and is non-toxic, just fairly smelly. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have a 'Mufasa' he is a serious orange tabby hunter, he has got a few rabbits.

Then there is Conan and Jasmine the mutts that have got a few rabbits also.

Like somebody said bloodmeal appearantly works from what I have been told by a few people.

I just had to share this one. I ran across a guy the other day who is a keen, keen gardener. I was complaining about the trouble I was having this year keeping wildlife out of my garden and he gave me his tried and true recipe for success .... wait for it .... human urine!!!!!! It seems he collects his in a big, I mean big pitcher, sinks polystyrene cups around his garden and fills them up. He said that it's the best way he's found in 30 years to keep rabbits out of his garden. I personally don't know if it works or not and I don't think I'll be trying it any time soon, but who knows. If you get desperate enough you may want to try it. If you do, let us know how it works. I really want to have this story confirmed ... or not, only not by me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

good thing that I hadn't heard about this when I had my greyhound. She would have been refilling all the cups on a regular basis. She would follow the male around the property and try to keep up with him. She even learned to lift one leg while trying to gain some hight..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
