Radiant Floor Heat Question

/ Radiant Floor Heat Question #21
When we built our house we put radiant heat in all the floors and we love it. It is probably too late, but I would seriously consider putting radiant heat on the first floor also. In our house it was just a matter of putting in a double bottom plate and then covering the tubing with light weight concrete.

Concrete was poured yesterday without issue. I pressure tested Thursday and left 50 lbs of pressure in the system Thursday night. No drop when checked at 5:30 before starting and no drop once pour was complete. Success! IMG_7271.jpgIMG_7263.jpg

Now...I don't want to be a troublemaker, although it is something at which I excel, but you should have put an 8' opening in that left hand wall against the slope. That would make it will be easier for you to get in there with a SCUT in a couple years to dig out for additional space you are going to need. Sorry, want!
Congrats on the pour. It is such a comfort when they come off correctly and such a nightmare when they do not. Looks like a really nice place.

I think we didn’t put a bigger opening specifically so I wouldn’t be tempted to put a tractor or other equipment in there, however, I do have access to a concrete saw if needed....lol. I know nothing is ever big enough, but I am hoping this will be, it’s definitely cost enough.

The biggest mistake I’ve made so far is to not run the basement under the front porch. The hole ended up so big that it would cost a fortune in gravel to fill it. I’ll be putting metal decking over it for the concrete cap.

I started on the seal plate last night, and early this morning, but with the heat index approaching 100, it’s simply too hot at the moment, so taking a break to spend some time with the family until the sun retreats behind the back tree line.
