Radiator Leak

You think one of those stop leak products is going to work in a system with no circulating pump?

Good question. I would think it should though because there is still a flow, the leak check is just looking for air. When it finds the air, it cures. As long as the system is full, the only time it should harden is when it dripps out the leak.

Good luck, the only thing you have to loose is time, that would be the same amount of time you spend adding it. If it doesnt work, you'll have to have it fixed professionally.

I didn't see where the machine number was mentioned. Must have missed the first page.

Gosh, Chris, and I thought you were just asking a general question to make us think. So, will it work on a thermosyphon system?

If it were me I would pull the radiator and take it to a radiator shop. It is not difficult to pull one and not expensive to have it boiled etc.....Just my opinion!!!

I'm afraid I'm with Randy on this, why not fix it right? Using the stop leak is just supposed to be a temporary fix till you can get it to the shop................
Always enough time to do it over, never enough time to do it right............

IMHO I think you may get some results.. but not as advertised. After all.. if it is a 'solids' type sealant.. it may simply sink tot he bottom o fthe core and set befor ethe tractor comes up to temp and water circulates. If it is a air cured adhesive?? who's to say if it mixes well.

I've heard that you should even pre-mix your water and coolant before you pour it in tot he radiator on these thermosyphon units. My old JD-B manual even mentions that.. course.. it refers to collecting rain water too! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I thought you should always pre-mix the fluids? Maybe bunk from old irish horse farmers i grew up with... but, nevertheless, i think it's a good practice..-art
