Radio for my Kubota

Are you guys really comfortable with not being able to hear what is going on around you while on you tractor? I know I am not.

Well I'm much more comfortable protecting my hearing than worrying about machinery. Yes I want to know what is going on but not at the expense of my hearing. As long as you keep a good eye on things you will know what is going on. Iowa State did a study some years ago that found 87% of farmers had moderate to severe hearing loss by age 45. By age 65 it was 95%.

Wadya say?

Thats what nice about the Alerts, you can listen to music at a comfortable level, hear the tractor, and someone speaking to you.

I have a pair of ear phones that go into the ear canal. They serve as attenuating earplugs, BUT, they also provide TUNES from my little MP3 player or CD player. I absolutely love these things.

My point is that I get the best of both worlds.
1. Canceling out the tractor noise and
2. Listen to my favorite bluegrass music.

works for me.

list price is about $139.00, but can be bought for around $99.00.

Take a look at the Peltor WorkTunes series of headsets.

You get tested and approved hearing protection and an AM/FM radio built-in in a commerical duty unit.

They also have a version that allows you to dial in "Ambient Noise" for those that like to "Hear" the machine, but the sound level in any case is limited to a safe level.

There are models that allow you to plug into a CD player or a Two-way radio system.

We are Dealers for Peltor, so if you can't find them locally, PM me and I'll give you all the dope on them.

I thought long and hard about this and arrived at the following solution.
I have an XM radio in my PU along with the factory AM/FM, tape player and a CD. I installed an FM modulator. I tune in to 89.1 with my Sony walkman and am able to listen to what ever is playing in my truck. I have 5 acres and it works great. Sometimes at the far end of the property it gets weak. I just move the truck if I want to listen to something that bad. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
