Wow! Do you expect a rare desert bloom or greenup from this, or is it still too cool for that to happen?
Jim, Is the Mojave going to flood? I lived at Barstow for about 11 years. Back in '69, I think, they had to open the gates at Lake Arrowhead because of a lot of rain and created a big headache downstream. I was standing under the old bridge near the train depot when the river bed went from dry to white water rapids in just a few minutes.
Deserts are fascinating. It always seemed so odd to be driving in an area that looks as if it hasn't seen a rain in a hundred years and yet see signs to not drive into water, or to see a sign on a bridge saying, "No Fishing from Bridge" when there's nothing but a dry wash under the bridge.![]()
