Just sitting here at the shop watching it rain and thought I would share an experience from earlier this week. I was clearing a wood lot for a customer and had started working in a drainage area which was pretty thick with privit and honeysuckle when I hit something that was a first for me, a bucket of paint, RED PAINT,no less. You have never seen any machine go into reverse any faster. I was shutting down the mulcher head, trying to raise the head and back up at the same time. The paint did not really get on the machine as much as it splattered on the trees and bushes in front of me. I knew that there was not any body in the area but I freaked out any way when I saw the explosion of RED. All I could think of was the guy in AZ that ran over the homeless guy a couple of years ago. I guess it's a funny story now but for about 10 seconds I was screaming like a little girl.:)

I hit a dead cat and a deer once. The cat got caught up in the drum and was spinning and beating itself to little pieces. It was in a garbage bag buried slightly below grade but the ground was soft and it sucked the bag in (I guess).. smelly.

I hit the dead deer with a rotary mower and chopped it up. Smelled awful too.. Have hit a paint can (aerosol) but it was black.. mower needed touch-up anyway. Red paint would have scared the heck out of me.. :D

While I didn't mulch these up, I might as well had. 6-7 days in the Texas summer sun. They had all been under the same tree...struck by lightning. Did the job for free for my daughter's boss and a customer of mine... gave me $100 bucks and an "I owe you one" for what would I have normally charged pretty good for. It was a 5 1/2 hour job between hauling, moving animals, and unloading.
My trailer and grapple smelled horrible for a couple of weeks even after I took it to the car wash. I think the goo soaked into my trailer deck. No good deed goes unpunished, however. I never ask anyone for help but I took this guy up on his offer to repay me when I had a personal need. Needless to say, he stiffed me then I ran into him at church!;)
