Thankyou Rambler.. I've just never seen a stand alone conditioner.. what would be the NH # series.. the searches I've done always come up mower/conditioner combo.

Glenn.. I'll check it out tonight.. maybe I can get a picture.. I'm sure there's a similiar type connector.. but at least I'll be able to explain it better once I look at it.

"On the cutterbar end the cable is attached around a teardrop shaped piece"

Glenn.. I checked out the mower last night.. took pictures.. and of course I forgot to bring them w/ me today. There should be a "teardrop piece" at both ends of the cable.. and that teardrop piece does just bolt on. In the picture I edited w/ the arrow.. you can see the teardrop piece bolted on. There is a square/rectangle piece welded on the bottom tube w/ a bolt hole.. that is where the teardrop piece is bolted to. Hope this helps.

Ken,

Is the square piece welded to the tube that is just above the spring in this picture? I can see some damage to the tube on mine in that area where it may have been. I didn't know if something was broken off or that was where the cable had been rubbing. At any rate I had intended to get the place repaired after I found out what needed to be done. Any idea about the dimensions of the square/regangular piece? Bolt hole about 1-1/2" out from the tube or ??? Thanks a lot for your efforts.

Glen.. Yes it is.. I can measure tonight.. but from looking at it last night.. it's about 3" wide.. 4" long.. 1/4" thick.

My sicklebar isn't w/out welding fixes too.. the bottoming out of the mower unit stops the 3pt lift on my TC35. The bigger tractors w/ larger lifts capacities.. is probably what has caused the breaking we see on the used units today.

Ooops.. I had the first 2 pictures reversed!

I planted last year's garden in rye wheat.. the heads have started to fill in.. the sickle mower is waiting patiently.

Thanks for the additional pictures. That confirms for me that I need to do some reconstruction work, and the lift cable on mine has been replaced.
In the last picture you posted of your mower sitting in the field I noticed a piece of chain around the top link area. If you're using that to hold the "yoke" assembly upright, you can release the eyebolt latches on each side and slide the yoke upwards. On the left side (facing from the rear) there should be a pin on the mower frame that you can put the eyebolt over to hold the assembly in place for mounting. You can see the pin I'm talking about in the attached picture.
