Never have used a rake and looking for advice. Area to be used is unimproved with alot of Measquite dead fall, weeds, catus. Mainly wanting an qucker way to clean up the dead fall into a burn pile( for when drought is over), but will be drug over catus and weeds and small mesquite brush.
Anyways do the rakes sold @ TSC and others work, or better off building one?

Thanks

TSC's are OK, but not heavy duty. Then again, a rake is generally not designed to move a lot of material at one time.

I bought a 60 inch rake at TSC, I thought it looked sturdier than some of the others I looked at. So far it has worked great, not only for moving top soil around but it will rip out small roots and rocks as well.
