I am looking for some good ways to carry a few hand tools on my tractor (JD4100) and also carry a shovel, rake. I was thinking something attached to ROP?

Any ideas?

thanks,

Carl,

How about a gun rack truckers install in their pick-up? Modified and installed on back of ROPS with U-bolts or other such clamping device might be used to carry your tools in a horizontal manner. If you don't need your 3PH, you might want to invest in a small carryall, again maybe modified and compartmentalized to organize all your tools.

Carl -

There have been a variety of attempts to solve this problem and many have been posted on this board over the last year and a half. I can't say that I've got it all worked out yet, but my contribution was outlined in the ROPS Rack thread. It's an old thread, so most of the pictures aren't viewable any more, but you can check these out if you want:

Spookily, after I made the thing, I found out that very similar rack.

I will soon be working more on how to carry the long-handled tools. In fact, I'm heading up to the property this weekend, so maybe I can fiddle with that while I'm there.

Good luck, and please let us know what you come up with.

Harv --

This is very ingenious. Have you applied yet for a patent on it. If not, you should as there could be a real market for this. I don't even have my JD4710, but already I want to start planning on making one of these things. I can think of a ton of uses. Thanks. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

This works good IF your tractor has a folding ROPS and IF it's high enough off the ground to keep the handle from dragging! :)

hi:
I have been using a length of ABS pipe 2.5", with a cap glued on, held on with hose clamps to the outside of my loader uprights.
