I just picked up a 5500 last year. It is the 6.7 with the aisin tranny. I am lucky to get 13mpg with it. Has 11000 on it now, I do hope it gets better mileage as it breaks in. A great truck, picked it up cheap, at least I think I did lol. Wanted a 3500 but would have paid more.

I'm glad to see someone else with a Ram chassis truck with CTD and Aisin :)

I have an 07 3500 quad cab and 9 ft utility body, My MPG is 10-12 but that is almost zero highway miles, as soon as I get on a highway I see the mpg go right up. My truck weighs 12,000+ lbs everyday.

What type of body do you have? How do you like that tranny with it's tow haul mode, working together with CTD and VGT brake? :D

My truck drives so nice, almost sporty for such a load.

Saw pictures here before. The first thing that came to my mind, is how did someone design something uglier than an AMC Pacer? Just IMHO, but the Pacer is nicer looking.

I hope to see a 4th player in the market!

Looks like there are at least 3 of us. My 07 QC is outfitted with an aluminum flat bed. Just hit 91k and still going strong. Just got the brakes and batteries changed, averages 13.5 towing 11k. I like this truck alot :) And it will haul butt when asked :D

Do you keep the engine brake on all the time? I do, figured that may hurt MPG's a little but help with brake life.

I've got way low miles compared to you, any other issues like EGR valve or DPF etc.

Who is it that has 50% of the heavy duty pickup truck market? GM and Chrysler can fight over what's left!:D

Well, it would give us a 3rd option at least. There is a very large percentage of the population who will never consider a Government Motors vehicle after they stole billions from their stockholders, bankrupted hundreds of suppliers and put thousands of their workers on the street and then turned around and paid their workers thousands in bonus money that was stolen from the very people who trusted their hard earned money in GM. I would most certainly consider a Toyota, Nissan, Honda etc. 1 ton before I'd ever consider buying a new Government Motors product. Since they stole billions before and turned around and gave it to the union and union employees, their pool of potential buyers has permanently decreased. Some don't care and don't look at the overall big picture. I assume those are the people incapable of comprehending what happened. Generally that shows up over time in their own personal financial decisions which, mostly, doesn't give off a positive reflection.

I may be wrong but I'm thinking just maybe it takes a bit more monetary commitment to buy a heavy duty pickup than a cheese burger. That 50% heavy duty market share is still growing and it's been a long time since it wasn't the biggest share. Wonder why!:D
Sure glad there's a choice for all of us and it ain't a moral issue, just a choice how we spend your hard earned cash.

You obviously didn't understand his analogy. They have the largest share because of marketing and pricing, NOT because of quality. I never seen a truck go through so many engine and transmission changes in such a short time due to recalls and problems yet those who buy whichever is on the cover of their favorite truck magazine see past it.
I'll take the truck that gets it done day-in and day-out versus whatever Mike Rowe told me to buy...
Come on, lets get this pi ssing match to 10 pages.
10 pages. Happy?
Your incredibly helpful posts certainly got us there quicker.

Nice grill guard, but I'm sorry that truck is just plain U-G-L-Y!
