Ok apparently I used the wrong terminology and I apologize, some people obviously aren't very forgiving of that. I put DIESEL fuel into my DIESEL tractor and it won't DIESEL start; is that better :) ? Anyway. I've been informed that I need to drain the air out of the gas lines and I have instructions on how to do that but I cannot figure out what's what underneath the tractor. I've lost my manual and was wondering if anyone was familiar with this procedure. I didn't mean to be sarcastic earlier but I believe this forum is to help people and if you're only going to criticize or make smart comments then please don't waste the space. And thank you for everyone else who was sincere.

I did mean to say Diesel fuel not gas. I realize you didn't mean to be critical but that's the way it came across. No big deal though, i'm always learning.

Welcome to TBN. I have been lurking around here picking up tips for awhile now. It's amazing how many things that you can pick up just from reading others' posts.

Sorry that I'm not farmiliar with your machine, just wanted to say welcome.

Well I dunno how it works on a NH, but on a Kubota there is a turny-knob on the injector pump. Open it up, then push on the primer thingy on top of the fuel filter mount till it gets hard to pump.

Then open your throttle wide open and proceed to crank for up to 20 seconds or so. Push on the primer thingy some more and let the starter cool down.

Repeat cranking till battery goes dead or the thing barely starts and slowly sputters to life, run for about 30 seconds or so and close the turny-knob.

I didn't miss the point. You're right Soundguy, but if we want this guy to post again (it was his first), we should offer help beyond simply pointing out what IMHO was a faux paux in the "fuel / gas vernacular" department.

I enjoy reading posts about "issues" people are having, because the helpful responses may someday help me out. There are those on this forum who offer nothing more than the easy flame-job when someone asks a question (and I know that you're not one of them :)). When that happens - Who does that help?

I figured I'd get my knuckles rapped by someone for my response, because people do use the wrong fuel on occasion (don't understand how, but it happens...).

I stand by my reply though, as it was very informative.

Thanks,

Lunk

Lunk,

I'm with you and appreciated your reply. I was thinking the same things while reading those posts, and felt they were less then helpful.

On the subject of starting after running out of fuel, it's pretty much the same process regardless of brand or type of tractor. I've done it will my tractors, both by pushing things too far, or while working on them.

I start off by filling the fuel filter, then cracking the first line after the fuel filter. I then pump until I get a steady stream of fuel. Sometimes I'll see bubbles, but mostly it's just fuel. I do this at every point that I can along the route to the ingectors. At the injectors, I almost always see allot of bubbles coming out of the fuel lines.

When I go through the entire path of the fuel, it always starts right up. When I try to take a shortcut, it never works and I have to go through all the steps from the beginning again.

Good luck,
Eddie

Gosh Golly,

Cut some slack, I prefer to think that this poster will be posting something real soon that will help one of us.
DQ don't let it bother you, I am coming up onto my second anniversary when i got 'bashed' for not being religiously correct. A simple best wish to the members for the 'holiday' turned into a bashing.
This is no different that any forum or on line 'game' people are over all good. but some are just down right rude and uncaring. And this can only discourage people from posting.
DQ welcome to TBN
Now im hungry for a Blizzard LOL

You do the same thing that you do after you change the fuel filter.

LOL. I'm not flaming at all, but I just couldn't help but laugh a little when I read this. ;)

Anyway, here is a pretty decent online walk through for most basic TC series tractor maintenance. About 2/3 down the page you will see the heading "Bleeding The Fuel System" with detailed pics of some of the important parts. The pictures show a 3 cyclinder engine (yours is a 4 I think?) Anyway, the only difference is one more fuel line & one more injector, & of course another cyclinder. Good luck!

Yep some people are rude. But have always found you start with the obvious. Could it have been worded more politely, sure. No doubt all the speech writers were busy. As to how you end up with wrong fuel in a machine, not paying attention, something else on your mind. Yep, been there, done that. When I found drain plug in bottom of my pickup's fuel tank assumed factory had others do so also.

Another obvious one that stumped me for about an hour recently, be sure the cut off valve is open. :) kt
