The RTV can do all you're requesting. So can most others.
How steep are the hills? Primarily, will you be carrying loads up or down hills?
For towing, you'll find many of us hauling several thousands of pounds on trailers with the RTV and loading with 1200-1500# in the RTV's box. So far, no reported problems.
My hill is about 1000' deep but goes up over 300' of elevation in that distance. I can use trails that traverse the hill but have yet to find ANY machine that can go straight up.

If a true work horse is what you're looking for, the RTV is pretty near the top. If you want to work and play, there's several that are faster but pretty powerful as well.

I'd suggest you pull up a beverage of you choice and pick through some of the more recent posts in this forum. You'll find all kinds of input on the RTV as well as some comparisons and input on the Ranger, Rhino, Gator...

PS. Please fill out your profile so we know a little more about you. A general idea of where you live is a big help. It helps to consider the ground (sand, clay, rocks..., terrain, snow, etc.)

bobs,
Your edit added the 90 degrees and sentence to carry loads up hill.
like rockinmywaypa said, 90 degrees is straight up. Please clarify.

more like 52 degres

bobs,

Only have second to figure this out but here's what I come up with.

52 degrees gives a slope of approx. 1.25.
That means for every 40' horizontally into this hill, the elevation rises 50'.
If this is in fact the case, I don't think any tractor, UTV and probably 90% of ATV's couldn't climb up the hill.

Do you have any pictures you can post of this hill?

Brian is correct. NO utv can climb a 52 degree hill.

I Played around with a rental RtV today, and I would dare say we scaled some stretches of 45 degrees. The salesman was a former rally driver and he took the helm for the trecherous stuff. He was a little disappointed that we didn't get stuck. We did most of the stunts with about five hundred pounds of firewood in the back. I was satisfied, so mine will be here before turkey day!

whoodle,

Congrats on your new purchase!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
How much distance did you go at 45 degrees? Mine bogs down if you try relatively steep hills that go on for a good duration.

I walked some of the areas today, to confirm my claim, and see the real deal. First of all the, the damage was pretty minimal considering the rocks and trees. the Rtv bottomed out many times and caught up on rocks and trees. We had the chainsaw so we could cut trees if need be. I would say that the 45 degrees were limited to 25 feet where a run up was clearly necessary. However, we went up slopes of more than 30 degrees for long enough that the run in was no factor. I walked one area with a friend of mine and he was definitely impressed. Additionally, I tried backing up a slope of perhaps 35 degrees that I was not able to get a start on, but with a little run up I mounted. the rental P-brake was too loose, so the rig crept back down while I was clearing the trail. I probably will never take my RTV on such a mission because ther is no need, but a rental with a willing salesman?...
