RANT- craigslist followers - are your local list getting hit by "tractor scammers"?

RANT - I often hit CL several times daily, and have saved thousands of dollars over the years.

Today it seems that the "farm and garden" sections in North Mississippi AND Washington DC are getting hit heavy by the scammers. Dozens of good tractors for $1,500 to $2,500.

All with reply to of some female name at gmail or hotmail.

Are others getting hit in a similar fashion?

It comes and goes. Have they fixed the can't return results by city yet? That breakdown by "within xx miles" is a PITA!

Yes.....same thing out here on the west coast. Probably have the same pictures....lots of tractors with backhoes for $1500. Gonna buy me 5 or 6 and resale them!:laughing:

There are 7 billion people in the world and a lot of them have computers and a lot of time on their hands. Many are English speaking, especially in Eastern Europe. As if we did not have enough crooks domestically, crime is now global.

I get so tired of them texting me asking me to email them if item is still for sale when I post something for sale. My response back is "does your mom know you have her phone?" No more text after that, lol.

The other one I always put CASH ONLY and they text me and say something about paypal or sending me a check and sending someone to pick up item. Nope, CASH ONLY!

We're seeing another wave of them here also. Want a 2003 Bobcat skid steer in perfect condition for $2002? The odd price is the tip off so scam-aware buyers don't waste their time. I've recently run into another scam trying to sell a car on Craigs List. The fake buyer leads you on in an attempt to get you to buy a scam site VIN history. I've had about 3 of those in as many weeks of listing.

It has been a weekly occurrence here for several years, I report them and others report them and by the next day they are gone. It is always easy to tell, the pictures have an email address plastered on them and the unusual price. Also the picture backgrounds do not match up with our local scenery, or my favorite, selling snow blower attachments in Central Texas.

Interesting, they seem to have disappeared lately from Atlanta Craigslist. Maybe your areas get better results.
