With the winter storm backups our FedEx delivered today but no pickups... until Tuesday.

Signs everywhere hiring delivery drivers and many have sign on bonuses.

Before Christmas I tried to look into moonlighting for UPS. Talk about going down a rabbit hole. I never did find out what I wanted to know yet still get notices almost daily of dollar stores that are hiring.

Found this a third way up my drive yesterday, apparently thrown there the day before by UPS. They have never done this before. When I saw it, I thought an empty bag had blown out of my ranger when I took the trash out to the road.

So we can get a text from Amazon with a photo showing where the package was delivered, I wonder if we can text UPS or Amazon with a photo showing where they are mis-delivered?

My son says tracking shows it was delivered at 1:40 am. My security cam shows no vehicles then. I see it on my camera, propped against the fence post at daylight. The wind later blew it.

Found it on video, unfortunately dark out. , they came Friday night at 20:44. Stopped on the road, drove past my driveway, backed up and came up the drive to the fence, then left. Then came back at 20:46 and pulled into driveway again.

Maybe we are fortunate around here... never any issue with drivers. Sometimes the package might get diverted for some reason but the deliveries have always been great. Christmas time I like to tip them in some way.

Same here. We are seeing Prime trucks deliver to the house now, not just UPS and Fedex. Last year on our shared lane (4 houses) we put up the blue reflective signs at the county road and at the Y in the lane, that helps the new drivers. We also have less people looking for another house come down the 1000 foot long lane now.

Prior to that I had my home made house number signage up, but the other 3 did not.

Blue Address Sign Request

If everyone had good and uniform signage, there probably would be fewer delivery problems.

Most people here have the green address signs.

My son ordered some items for his 3d printer from Amazon. Package came it was women’s ski pants and socks. Called Amazon got return label and parts would be resent. UPS stopped next day to pick up package and they left a package. It was what he originally ordered. They had somehow created two identical shipping labels and one got on the wrong package. But by this time they have resent the original order which comes a few days later. Amazon says don’t worry about it our mistake.

Had a new UPS driver yesterday, turns out he was a local boy from a couple ridges over. Asked where the usual guy was and found out he had taken a bad fall on the ice and was having to have some scans on his head.

Our town offered something like that a few years ago (one-shot deal, we're a pretty small town). Forget what it cost, but it was less than what your town quoted, included T-post, and the town's road crew would install it. I think there was a grant from the state to improve accuracy for 911 calls in rural communities.

Not living with snow and ice makes it easy to overlook the difficulties making deliveries in such...

Anything I can do to make it easier the better my overall service.

Used to be local 4H or maybe FFA sold the address reflective signs. I bought mine on Amazon

I have little problem with package delivery in the winter;
I don't want them on my driveway with ice or snow present as it would be asking for accidents so first snow this tote gets put out close to the road till spring;

Now during the rest of the year most of them are very good about bringing things up to the house,
the driveway is a 1/4 mile up a steep hill. Once in a while it must be a relief driver will leave them in strange places not far from the road.

This time of year I have any packages sent to the Post Office, or to a drop off point about 10 miles away. My road is maintained just enough from one end for access to the three homes, and they always try to come in from the other end. You would think that after 18 years they would have some type of database telling how to get here or at least read the instructions on the shipping label, but that apparently isn't practical. What's frustrating though is when I place a small order which gets shipped in 5 packages... it costs me 3$/package at the drop-off point.

On my last Amazon order I chose ship in a single box at checkout vs. 3 items over 3 days. It delayed all until the third day but I wasn't in a rush. It also cut down the chances of them disturbing my afternoon nap.

We are still getting Fedex and now some UPS left in various places around the mailbox and garbage cans, even though the access road is pretty clear.
At least UPS guy puts in bags, fedex leaves right on/in the snow.
Who knows what i will find once the melt is done...

Guy was lucky from the sounds. My grandfather was a rural mail carrier for the post office. He was delivering in an ice storm and had some packages for one resident that wouldn't fit in the box.

He fell in their driveway, broke his hip and laid there for four hours in the cold till the resident got home from work and found him.

Thankfully he was dressed warm so all he had besides the busted hip was a case of hypothermia.

I quit following this thread a while back. Now I have a complaint about the USPS delivery system. I placed an order eight days ago--ordered it 9 days ago. Being lazy, I had it sent to my PO Box instead of my street address as usual. It has some white chocolate in it. The seller suggested having it delivered overnight, but I figured the weather is cool and the "free" delivery was attractive. Delivery was promised by Saturday. The latest tracking information says the package arrived in Phoenix this morning. That means probably 2 more days, maybe 3, before it is delivered. Lesson learned--UPS delivers more quickly.

It also cut down the chances of them disturbing my afternoon nap.

I put a sign on my doorbell to not ring it when they deliver. Not that I nap during the day, but the dogs go crazy doing the roadrunner thing on the wood floor getting to the door. Hate that.
